60mm Double Stack Modular Telescope — Maximum Contrast
The LS60MT Premium Kit is the ultimate expression of the 60mm modular platform — combining Lunt's universal day/night architecture with a double-stack etalon system that achieves a combined bandpass of <0.28Å. At this contrast level through 60mm of premium FLP51 ED optics, the hydrogen-alpha chromosphere reveals structure and detail that single-stack instruments at this aperture cannot resolve.
The double-stack architecture in the 60mm Premium is a hybrid system — and a technically interesting one. The internal etalon is pressure-tuned via Doppler True Barometric tuning, providing instant, precise bandpass control across the full field. The front-mounted LS50FHa etalon is tilt-tuned, adding the second bandpass element that narrows the combined system response to <0.28Å. Two independently controllable etalons, two different tuning mechanisms, working in series to produce chromospheric contrast that single-stack observers have to see to believe. Plage boundaries resolve into defined cellular networks. Filaments show internal threading and dark-core complexity. Prominences reveal structural detail from base to tip. The pressure tuner shifts the chromospheric view in real time; the tilt-tuner locks in the additional contrast needed to see what lies beneath the surface.
The 6" Vixen dovetail — longer than the 4" on the Standard and Enhanced — provides the rail length needed to balance the system with the front-mounted DS filter in place. The B1200 blocking filter provides 12mm of clear aperture for imaging. The zoom eyepiece covers every magnification in a single twist. By night, remove the solar module and double-stack filter and the LS60MT is a premium 70mm f/6 FLP51 ED refractor with no compromises.
Every unit is individually assembled, bench-tested, and individually verified before leaving Tucson. When Lunt states a specification, it is measured.
