The 50mm f/7 optical system delivers a verified <0.45Å bandpass across the full unobstructed aperture. Doppler True Barometric Pressure Tuning is the defining feature — and the one that separates the LS50THa from every entry-level tilt-tuned or compression-tuned competitor. A turn of the knob shifts the etalon bandpass across the entire field simultaneously, with no sweet spot, no edge falloff, no angle-dependent variation. Watch prominences respond as you tune toward the blue wing. Watch surface structure sharpen as you shift toward the red. The chromosphere becomes something you explore in depth, not just observe from a distance.
At just over three pounds with an integrated clamshell mounting base, the LS50THa is genuinely portable. It fits on any Vixen-compatible mount or a standard photo tripod. The SunLock red dot finder gets you on target safely in seconds. The helical focuser provides smooth, precise focus control for the 12mm flat-field eyepiece — 29x magnification for comfortable full-disk views and detailed prominence surveys. The aluminium hard case with custom foam insert travels as well as the telescope itself.
The LS50THa Standard is also a starting point, not a ceiling. Add the LS50C compact double-stack filter at any time — it threads directly onto the front of the OTA in seconds, no tools required — and combined system bandpass drops to <0.28Å. For observers who want upgraded focuser precision and a three-eyepiece set from the outset, the Enhanced Kit provides both at $200 more.
