40mm Dedicated H-Alpha Solar Telescope — Imaging Ready
The LS40THa Enhanced Kit builds on the Standard's outstanding optical performance with two targeted upgrades for observers ready to move into solar imaging, or who want the best mechanical experience the 40mm platform can provide. The difference is immediately apparent at first focus: the CNC rack-and-pinion focuser is in a different class from the helical design, and the B600 blocking filter's wider aperture opens the system to imaging sensors.
The 1.25" R&P focuser with integrated brake replaces the standard mini helical with precision CNC-machined aluminium and brass components. The integrated brake with variable drag eliminates focus drift — critical when working at 33x magnification with fine solar detail and narrow bandpass. Load capacity of 6–8 lbs handles cameras, filter wheels, and imaging accessories without compromise. It is a permanently better mechanical experience that makes the helical focuser impossible to return to once experienced.
The B600 blocking filter increases clear aperture from 5mm to 6mm, providing additional back-focus clearance for camera sensors and reducing edge vignetting with larger eyepieces. For observers planning to image the chromosphere — and at 0.35Å the LS40THa produces images that reward the effort — the B600 is the right blocking filter choice. The same verified <0.35Å bandpass. The same 40mm front-mounted etalon. The same extraordinary contrast advantage over the Acuter Phoenix 40 at 0.6Å — for $260 less than the Acuter's price.
Like all Lunt 40mm systems, the Enhanced is fully double-stack capable. Add the LS40FHa filter at any time for combined system bandpass of <0.25Å — the highest contrast available in any 40mm solar telescope, anywhere.
