100mm Double Stack Modular Telescope — The Ultimate Solar Instrument
The LS100MT Premium Kit is the finest portable solar telescope Lunt makes. It combines 100mm of premium FPL53 ED triplet optics with an internal double-stack etalon system, dual independent Doppler True pressure tuners, and Lunt's highest-specification new-generation etalons — delivering a combined system bandpass of <0.28Å, with some units achieving <0.27Å or better. At this bandpass and aperture, you are seeing the hydrogen-alpha chromosphere at the highest level of detail and contrast available in a portable instrument anywhere in the world.
The internal SFPT double-stack architecture places two independently pressure-tuned etalons in series within the optical path. Each etalon has its own Doppler True pressure tuner, giving the observer separate and precise control over the bandpass of each element. This is not a set-and-forget system — it is a precision instrument that rewards engaged, intentional tuning. Adjust each etalon independently to optimize for prominences, surface filaments, active region structure, or any chromospheric feature. The combined system achieves a bandpass of <0.28Å when both new-generation etalons are optimally tuned — a level of chromospheric contrast that was, until recently, available only in fixed observatory instruments.
At <0.28Å through 100mm of FPL53 triplet optics, the chromosphere reveals itself in extraordinary detail. Plage boundaries sharpen into defined cellular networks with individual cell structure visible. Filaments resolve into complex multi-strand architectures with dark cores, fine threading, and sharp boundary definition that lesser instruments render as uniform dark bands. Prominences at this aperture and bandpass are exceptional — internal threading and flow patterns resolve from base to tip, and structural evolution becomes visible on timescales of minutes. The chromosphere is not a texture. It is a living, dynamic landscape.
The B1800 blocking filter provides 18mm of clear aperture for full-frame imaging without vignetting. The 7.2–21.5mm zoom eyepiece covers the full range from full-disk surveys to maximum-resolution detail in a single twist — the ideal companion for a system where the observer is constantly tuning and exploring. Remove the solar and double-stack modules and the LS100MT becomes a premium 100mm f/7 ED triplet refractor for night-sky observation of exceptional quality. One instrument. No limits.
Every unit in this package is individually assembled, bench-tested, and verified on Lunt's precision 1.5-metre precision metrology equipment at 656.28nm. When Lunt states a specification, it is measured — not estimated.
